Is Remapping Legal in the UK?

A standard performance or economy remap is fully legal on UK roads. You don't need to notify the DVLA. You DO need to declare the modification to your insurer — failing to do so can invalidate your policy.

MOTs are unaffected by software changes provided your car still passes emissions. A Stage 1 remap usually has no measurable effect on tailpipe emissions because the engine is operating within stock parameters.

DPF, EGR and AdBlue deletes are a different story — they're for off-road, motorsport, and export use only. A car with a DPF physically removed will fail the MOT visual inspection. We'll always discuss the legal implications before any delete work.
